Mother's Day & Visit to D.C.

Mother's Day this year was spent in Washington, D.C. Troy, Kendall and I went for a few days to visit old friends and relive old times. For Mother's Day Troy had cookies sent to our house to arrive during playgroup, since I was hosting that week. Everyone was surprised and excited to be eating yummy cookies for snack. My husband is always so thoughtful. He's so sweet to me! I just love that guy. :-)

While in D.C., one of my dearest friends and former roommate and co-worker let us stay with her in her efficiency. So we took over her flat for 3 days....Thank you Pia! You are so good to us. Kendall had trouble sitting still at dinner so I didn't get to enjoy myself much at meal time, but otherwise she was a rock star the rest of the trip. We had such a nice time! Come visit us D.C. folks. We love you. Below are some pictures from our travels.

Posing in front of an old yet very cool taxi in some car lot in Arlington, VA

Uncle Brian babysitting K while we tried to enjoy brunch in Arlington, VA with Brian and Anne. Poor Brian did a lot of this while we were in town. What a good sport and doesn't he look so good with a baby! I'm just saying Brain.

My old co-worker from my days working on the hill. Anne and I at brunch. It was so great to see her and get caught up.

Welcome! Kendall and Troy at the front door waiting to go inside.

Kendall siting still ever so briefly!

Kendall signing that she is done and the tour hasn't even started yet. AWESOME!

She's really done!

Next we toured Mt. Vernon since Troy lived and D.C. 2 years and never toured it. Troy and Kendall enjoying the beautiful views from the back yard of the Potomic River.

Trying for a photo op with K on the back patio of the Mt. Vernon Estate

Kendall made a friend with a little boy named Evan. He was so generous about sharing grass with her.

What a trooper!

Bye bye Mt. Vernon!

Long day touring- now off to dinner with friends.

Over taken by a Blueberry Muffin

Kendall loves blueberry muffins. Clearly!!!!!! I love that you can't see the majority of her face. That is pure muffin enjoyment right there and the sunglasses just give an added touch of sophistication.

Pooped out after lunch!

Easter 2011

For Easter this year, we woke up and Kendall played with a car toy she got in her Easter Basket, a beetle Volkswagen with flowers on it. It has great distance when you pull it back and let it go! She then went to church and Grandma and Grandpa Griffis came with us. For lunch we headed over to our local park for some fun, sun and eats. We played on the playground, ate lunch and tried to do a little Easter egg hunting which didn't go super smoothly. Kendall doesn't quite get that after she finds one egg she needs to keep looking for others. She just wanted to either eat or dump out the eggs contents and then try to eat the plastic egg. We will have to work on this next year! It was a great way to spend such a meaningful day!

Easter Egg Hunt at Play Group & Visit with Old Friends

This past Monday afternoon and evening was packed full of activities with friends. First, Kendall and I went to our usual Monday playgroup. There was an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids, yummy treats and plenty of outdoor activities including a water table. It was super hot that day so we were all trying to stay cool.
After playgroup, we met Troy and our friends, Matt, Katie, Pierce and new baby Luke for dinner. They moved from Dallas to El Paso two years ago when Matt joined the FBI. It was so great seeing them and K couldn't keep her hands off of her buddy, Pierce. She just loved him and who wouldn't!
